Glad to hear you had a nice race weekend and feel competive in your class :D The race i had this weekend was cancelled due to heavy rain which would have left the track a mess for the next weekend.

The starting lineup by entry time seems an odd way, how are the rest of the starting grids determined?

Oof that sucks! It’s hard enough to wait for the races that are scheduled as is. It’s just the first round after that grid is by points in that individual class.

As an avid rider who’s never been to track or taken a bike to probably 50% of it’s capability, I am curious how the traction control on your bike works. Are you telling me that if you’re leaned over and give it the beans, you won’t just spin out the rear tire and fall? If you go too fast through a corner will it slow the bike down? How does it feel?

Well when I bought my piggy back ECU I bought a Bazzaz and it has a built in “traction control” feature. Basically it only looks at rate of change of rpm. Then you build an excel spreadsheet that sets the amount of rate of change allowed by gear/throttle position. So no, it won’t just save me if I give it the beans and actually since round 1 I have just turned it off :). But the OEM traction control on most brand new sport bikes it much more sophisticated. They have IMU’s (inertial measurement units) that read lean angle, pitch, yaw (or calculate yaw), look at throttle position, and wheel speed sensors that combine to give you the ability to lay it over and just lay on the throttle without getting tossed. But even then it will be at the expense of the drive you could get out of the corner by either turning it off or just putting it on a very low setting and still rolling on and just letting it smooth out that last couple %.

I can’t decide if that’s wonderful or terrible. It seems like it should be “cheating” to some extent. But if you’re saying that you can go faster without it, I guess that doesn’t make much sense. Although on the other hand, it does allow someone to be a little bit more aggressive, knowing that they can potentially be saved by the computer. It does make me kind of want to try it though.
